FALL TIME FALL TIME FALL TIME

I was driving today and noticed that some of the leaves are starting to turn red, which is really exciting for me. I love fall time. More than anything else. I know it comes from kind of a dreary book, but Truman Capote has the most perfect sentence in In Cold Blood: “It was ideal apple-eating weather; the whitest sunlight descended from the purest sky, and an easterly wind rustled, without ripping loose, the last of the leaves on the Chinese Elms.”

That’s exactly what I want. In my neighborhood street cleaning includes leaf pick up, so all of the leaves get swept into the street in huge piles and are only picked up once every few weeks. It’s awesome. Autumn smells awesome. God, I just want to enjoy autumn forever, starting with cooking a lot of pumpkin themed food. Oh, and candy apples. Candy honeycrisp apples. That’s where it’s at.
